Obituary for Loyd Vaughan

Church Service for Loyd Vaughan Age 93, of Dimmitt, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 4th and Bedford Church of Christ in Dimmitt with Carter Townsend and Bill Weldon officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt. Loyd died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas He was born August 4, 1922 in Vinson Oklahoma to James O. and Essie (Darrow) Vaughan. He married Dorothy Jones in Wellington, Texas on February 3, 1946. After Dorothy passed away in 1994, Loyd married Jane Killebrew Jones on March 19, 1995.

Loyd moved from Colorado to Dimmitt in 1968. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and a businessman. He enjoyed fishing. Loyd is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Jane; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharla Vaughan and their son, Adam Vaughan; his parents; his brother, Laverne Vaughan; and his sister, Ruey McKinney.


Loyd is survived by two sons, Gene Vaughan and his wife, Carol of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Kent Vaughan and his wife, Paula of Earth, Texas; three step-daughters, Laura Peterson of Dallas, Texas, Jessie Jones of New York, New York and Ellen Jones and her husband, Jim McCarthy of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Joye Breedlove of Littlefield, Texas; three grandchildren, Amber DiSimonoe and her husband, Jay of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Vaughan of Phoenix, Arizona and Jessica Pounds and her husband, Jared of Shallowater, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jamison and Jaxtin Pounds, and River DiSimone; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Tipton Home, PO Box 370, Tipton, Oklahoma, 73570.
