Obituary for Yvonne Pierce (Fox)

Yvonne Pierce (Fox)
Church service for Yvonne Pierce, age 82, formerly of Sudan, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, November 4, 2016 at Sudan Church of Christ with Brother Terry Wilson of Sudan officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery. Yvonne died Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Mansfield, Texas. She was born June 4, 1934 in Lamb County, Texas to Lovie George and Hallie Lucille (Hawkins) Fox. She married Leonard Pierce in Sudan, TX on December 21, 1950.

Yvonne was a housewife and a member of the Sudan Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and entertaining children. She liked to embroider and embroidered several quilts for her children and grandchildren. Seems as though, Yvonne was raised in the wrong city; she should have been a New Yorker, because she loved the theater, musicals and plays. She had a passion for art and had many beautiful pieces from family and friends. She always dressed for the church Halloween parties and kept a closet full of costumes. She enjoyed telling funny stories, about the family and her days spent working at a Retirement Center. She was an avid Spurs fan. Yvonne was 4-H leader for over 20 years and promoted many activities and events. She enjoyed teaching 4-H cooking to her daughters and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2008; a granddaughter, Heather Pierce; her parents; and two brothers, Eugene Fox and Harold Fox.

Yvonne is survived by her three sons, Randy Pierce and his wife, Doris of Sudan, Texas, Bruce Pierce and his wife, Sherry of Sudan, Texas and Brad Pierce and his wife, Cynthia of Austin, Texas; her two daughters, Jenine Foster and her husband, Bobby of Midlothian, Texas and Celia Horton and her husband, Gary of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Lois Hicks of German Town, Tennessee and Peggy Sansone of Indianapolis, Indiana: 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be sent to New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 N.M. 236, Portales, NM, 88130-9411.
