Church service for Jeanne Kerby, age 89, of Bovina, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Bovina with Curtis Shelburne of Muleshoe, Texas officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery. Jeanne died Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Muleshoe. She was born March 20, 1927 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to George and Mabel (Sowell) Frederick. She married Al Kerby, Sr. in Oakland, California on December 14, 1942.

Jeanne worked alongside her husband, Al, for many years as the bookkeeper for their welding shop. She wrote for the Bovina Blade and participated in an exercise class in Bovina until a few years ago. She loved working in her yard. Jeanne was an avid Cubs fan as well as any sports that involved her grandchildren. She treasured her grandkids and the time she spent with them. Jeanne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bovina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Al in 2005; her parents; her three brothers, Paul, George Jr. and Roscoe Frederick; two sisters, Mabel Evans and Lurline Cumpton; and her son-in-law, Steve Benton.

Jeanne is survived by her son, A.L. Kerby, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Bovina, Texas; her daughter, Paula Benton of Muleshoe, Texas; five grandchildren and their families, Joe Dan Tarter, Clay and Kyle Tarter; Vandi Treider and her husband Stan, Cory Chancey and Ila Grace Combs; Jason Kerby, Kaden, Mason and Rylan Kerby; Tyson Kerby and his wife, R.J., Ashtyn and Harper Kerby; and Josh Kerby; and two great-great-grandchildren.
