Church service for Rita Thomas, age 83, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Eastside Church of Christ in Morton with Joey Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Enochs Cemetery. Rita died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Morton. She was born December 6, 1933 in Crowell, Texas to Bay and Gladys (Pryor) Wilson. She married Pete Thomas in Clovis, New Mexico on April 29, 1954.

Rita had lived in the Morton community since 1959. She was homemaker and a member of the Eastside Church of Christ in Morton where she taught Bible school. She was also a member of the Garden Club, the Home Demonstration Club and the Children’s Home of New Mexico Ladies Association. Rita is preceded in death by her son, Arthur in 1985; her parents; and her brothers, Gordon Wilson and Neil Wilson.

Rita is survived by her husband, Pete; her son, Steve Thomas and his wife, Robin of Levelland, Texas; her four sisters, Nelda Jo Teeter of Lubbock, Texas, Jan Furr of Amarillo, Texas, Dianne Brown of Muleshoe, Texas and Cathy Wilson of Muleshoe, Texas; her three brothers, Stanley Wilson and his wife, Pat of Muleshoe, Texas, Roger Wilson of Lemon, North Dakota and Mickey Wilson and his wife, Jan of Amarillo, Texas; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Nickels of Muleshoe, Texas; three grandchildren, Andy Thomas and his wife, Gina, Jamie Thomas and Ben Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Colbie Thomas and Callen Thomas.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the New Mexico Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, New Mexico, 88130 or the charity of your choice.
