Obituary for Hugh Terrell Hansen

Hugh Terrell  Hansen
Hugh Terrell Hansen, Sr., passed away Friday morning at 95 years old, after a life well-lived. He will be remembered at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the 2nd and Taylor Church of Christ in Morton,Texas.

He was born in Jones County, Texas, on October 30, 1921. He moved to Cochran County with his family in 1930. He married Elva Moudy in 1947, and lived near Morton, Texas, where he built a family and served his community. Hugh served in the Army Air Corps during World War 2, and continued to honor those who serve as an active member of the American Legion. He was a farmer and enjoyed restoring antique tractors, along with friends from the South Plains Tractor Club. He valued his community and served as a city council member in Morton and as a trustee of the Federal Land Bank. The Christian family from the 2nd and Taylor Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder, provided encouragement to Hugh for many years.

Hugh is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, and 3 sisters, Anna Mae Butler, Ruth Adair, and Margaret Pearson.

He is survived by children, Margaret Schlabach and Terrell Hansen, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Walt Hansen, Marie Blackaller, Christine Ervin, and Louise Moffit as well as many nieces and nephews.
