Pilar Ida "Guela" Sabala died Wednesday, August 7, 2018 in Morton, Texas at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 24 days. She was born March 13, 1941 in Ballinger, Texas to Audon and Dominga (Mata) Gomez. She married Augustine Sabala in Morton in 1958.

Pilar worked for Morton ISD for may years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and quilting. She also loved music. Pilar treasured her time spent with her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband, Augustine; her parents; one daughter, Toni Sabala; one sister, Yvonne Olivas; and two brothers, J.R. Gomez and Rudy Torres.

Pilar is survived by her four sons, Tino Sabala of Morton, Texas, Robert Sabala of Layafette, California, Calvin Frey of Levelland, Texas and Pat Sabala Henry and his wife, Jenny of Morton, Texas; her daughter, Wanda Sabala of Morton, Texas; her two sisters, Rev. Toni Herrera of Roswell, New Mexico and Nancy Prieto of Lubbock, Texas; her three brothers, Johnny Gomez of Lubbock, Texas, Richard Gomez of Lubbock, Texas and Mario Gomez of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
