Houston died Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Amherst, Texas at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was born October 31, 1924 in Ochiltree County, Texas to Earl William and Margaret (Malone) Black. He married Minnie Belle Wells in Bula, Texas in April of 1947.

Houston served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and loved his pets. He treasured time spent with his family. Houston was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sudan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie; his parents; a son, Donald Wesley Black; 2 sisters, Ellen Sullivan and Margaret Ruth; and one brother, Richard Black.

Houston is survived by his two sons, William Houston Black and his wife, Carolyn of North Richland Hills, Texas and Alan Lynn Black and his wife, Donna of Littlefield, Texas; his three daughters, Helen Louise Driskill and her husband, David of Amarillo, Texas, Barbara Ann Carroll and her husband, Jim of Knox City, Texas and Dora Jean Hunter and her husband, Alfred of Anna, Texas; his sister, Nancy Ashford of Bellevue, Washington; his brother, Kenneth Black of Odessa, Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
