Church Service for Oneta Marie Lemons Yeary, 94, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Morton with Rev. Lyndall Fletcher of First United Methodist Church in Morton and Brother Rush Coffman of First Baptist Church in Morton officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Oneta died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Levelland, Texas. She was born Septmber 24, 1921 in Quitaque, Texas to R.C. and Iva Lemons. She married Marion Barlow, and had one daughter, Doris. Oneta later married Ralph Yeary in 1943.

Upon Ralph’s death, Oneta became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and continued her studies, receiving her Registered Nurses License in 1971. Her entire nursing career was spent in Cochran County Hospital, except for 2 years working for the Texas Health Department in Morton. She retired from nursing in 2004. Oneta also served on the County Hospital Board and was a big supporter of the American Cancer Society. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, making countless garments for nieces, nephews, grandchildren and others. She enjoyed baking special treats for family and friends. Oneta’s apricot cobblers and pies won many awards in the community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Morton. Oneta is preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Ralph in 1967; her daughter, Doris Barlow Coursey; two step-sons, Robert Yeary and Glen Yeary; her parents; and four of her five siblings.

Leaving behind to mourn her death is one sister, Wanda Anglin of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Maxine Yeary of Morton, Texas and Doris Yeary of Weatherford, Texas; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
