Obituary for Duward G. "Shorty" Ivy
Church service for D.G. "Shorty" Ivy, age 75, of Lazbuddie, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, January 30, 2017 at Trinity Christian Church in Muleshoe with Reydon Stanford of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Lazbuddie Cemetery. Shorty died Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Friona, Texas. He was born February 26, 1941 in Clovis, New Mexico to D.B and Christine (Gammon) Ivy. He married Jonnie Burris in Muleshoe on January 9, 1965.
Shorty lived in the Lazbuddie community all of his life. He served in the National Guard. He was a farmer, rancher, truck driver and a cowboy. Shorty was a family man. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jonnie in 2013; his parents; and his brother, Robert “Beanie” Ivy.
Shorty is survived by his two sons, Dewayne Ivy and his wife, Mechelle of Mesquite, Texas and Lanse Ivy and his wife, Shelly of Lazbuddie, Texas; his daughter, Cami White and her husband, Bill of Katy, Texas; his sister, Christie Whitt of Muleshoe, Texas; eight grandchildren, Justin Ivy and his wife, Suzanne, Austin Ivy, Darin Ivy, Haldon Ivy, Haley McIntosh and her husband, Josh, Destry Ivy, Sarrean White and William White.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Alzheimers Association, 3610 – 22nd Street, Suite 300, Lubbock, Texas, 79410.
