Archie "Joe" Sowderdied Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Conway, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 4 monthe adn 16 days. He was born October 11, 1933 in Bailey County, Texas to Everett and Opal (Stapp) Sowder. He married Patsy Taylor in Maple, Texas on February 16, 1952.

Joe was a long time resident of Bailey County, and was a farmer for many years. He was a 1951 graduate of Three-Way High School, and was a member of the Three-Way School Board for a number of years. Joe was also a member of Muleshoe Country Club, a Director of 5-Area Telephone Cooperative and Chairman of the ASCS County Committee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Muleshoe and was a former President of the Baptist Brotherhood Llanos Altos. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy in 1998.

Joe is survived by his son, Michael Sowder and his wife, Elizabeth, of Conway, Arkansas; his daughter, Kandy McCarty and her husband, Jack, of Pampa, Texas; his sister, Janice Farris and her husband, Dub, of San Antonio, Texas; Laverne Winn, a special friend for the last 20 years: his five grandchildren, Josh McCarty and his wife, Haley, Jeremy McCarty and his wife, Jaci, Jennifer Collins and her husband, Greg, Timothy Sowder, and Tiffany Rotton and her husband, Justin; and his ten great-grandchildren, Hunter, Alexa, Lucas and Archie Joe McCarty, Fisher, Kadyn and Danika McCarty, Tristan Black; and Asher and Graham Rotton; and numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
